SCC is currently seeking a full-time Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with AWS D1.5 shop fabrication experience to perform quality assurance inspections. This position primarily involves working at a fabrication facility in the Great Falls, MT area. The position may include some travel to project required galvanizing
facilities.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Previous structural fabrication inspection (QC or QA) experience.
  • NDT Level I or Level II certification: UT, MT, PT and VT.
  • Familiarity and experience with AWS D1.5 and AWS D1.1.
  • Perform third party DOT structural steel fabrication quality assurance inspection and reporting
  • Utilize applicable ASTM and AASHTO construction specifications
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and all other project documents to verify compliance.
  • Ability to work closely with other fabrication, construction, and quality personnel in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Familiarity with inspecting and reporting high strength FCM welds.
  • Familiarity with steel bridge fabrication.
  • Ability to use the following: Laptop computer, reporting programs, inspection tools, and other required technology.
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Word, internet, report writing, file (photograph and other) attachments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relations.
     

Qualifications

  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • 3 years minimum project experience with structural steel fabrication
  • NDT certification strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good Driving Record (driver license will be verified)
  • Ability to pass pre-hire drug screening/testing
