NDE (INSPECTION) ASSISTANT

The Apprentice Nondestructive Testing technician will assist an experienced Technician in performing inspections utilizing various NDE methods in accordance with company procedures. The NDE ASSISTANT will eventually learn to calibrate equipment or perform other duties under the supervision of a certified Technician.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

The chosen candidate will be expected to learn from and emulate the technicians they work with in order to acquire necessary on-the-job-training to eventually move into a full-time technician role. The NDE Assistant is essentially an apprenticeship program with the goal of becoming a certified inspection professional.

  • Maintains a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards and practices and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concern
  • Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to SCC Inspection's culture and values.
  • Assists the Technician in all required inspections.
  • Studies to gain NDT certifications while assisting and learning hands on experience in various methods.
  • Performs any duties assigned by the Technician or other supervisor on the worksite.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of company equipment and other inventory.
  • Clean and organize inspection vehicles. Learn which items are required for project inspection needs and ensure inventory is in place.
  • Fill out required forms and paperwork to ensure quality communication throughout the company.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and outlook while at work in the office or on the jobsite.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • An understanding of basic math
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with computers and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Certification or understanding of NDE methods including MT/PT/Phased Array a plus
  • Ability to work long hours and with a flexible schedule
  • Must acquire TWIC card

 

 

Physical/Environmental Information

 

  • Work is outdoors with extreme heat and cold on occasion
  • Must be able to climb and perform required task at several heights
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Must pass drug and fit test
